Calculating daylight

The daylight factor method (CIE - E.U.) calculates how much daylight reaches any location in a room assuming overcast/diffuse conditions; and can account for corner windows, which cannot be accounted for using the lumen method (IES - U.S.). When 2,200 fc is measured on the ground outside, what is the resulting illumination level if one end of a room has a daylight factor of 2?

Answer is 2200 fc x 0.02 = 44 fc. DF is a percentage of the light available outside.

Elevator bank layouts

An office building has an elevator bank with 4 elevators where 2 cabs side-by-side are arranged opposite the other 2. A. 8 feet B. 9 feet C. 11 feet D. 12 feet Answer C. 11 feet. At 1.5-2 times the car depth (5'4), this could be a range, but 10 feet is a minimum for groups of 4 or more. Therefore C is the best choice. ARE 4.0 exam prep: BDCS
