How many sections are contained within a township?
Answer36 (each is 1 mile square)
What are the dimensions of 1/2 of a township? H & W
Answer18 miles square (3x6 sections)

  1. if a township is 6 mi x 6 mi (36 mi square
    ), wouldn't 1/2 a township 3 mi x 6 mi (18 mi square)?

  3. Hi - some posts use an older pop-up tool, which delays then shows the answer for 5 seconds. I'm still converting the remaining older answers to the new tooltip (which shows the answer as long your mouse is over it.) I'm glad the site is useful - visit often! And good luck on exams!
