Forms: G704/DB

The form G704/DB "Acknowledgement of Substantial Completion" is used on design-build projects and is similar to the traditional G704 "Certificate of Substantial Completion". However, only the owner & design-builder signs this form. Why has the space for architect's signature dropped in this form?

AnswerTo eliminate a potential ethical conflict when the architect is a subcontractor to the design-builder, ensuring the architect is not pressured to sign off on a date that might trigger an early completion bonus or limit liquidated damages for late completion.
