Rain loads

When a roof drain becomes blocked, water is allowed to accumulate. IBC Chapter 16 requires that roofs should be designed to account for this potential load. How is the anticipated depth of water determined?



Answer: By taking the difference between the elevation of the primary roof drain system and the elevation of the overflow outlet (a scupper for example).
