Material Dimensional tolerance

Dimensional notation in construction documents must also consider dimensional tolerances associated with various materials. For example, construction standards published by American Concrete Institute (i.e. ACI 117) are commonly referenced in project specifications, which should be coordinated with relevant detail drawings. In concrete formwork for a 40 foot building, allowance must be considered for upto 1/2 inch (Choose 2)
A. in 10 feet variation from level in slab soffits, ceilings, and beam soffits
B. minus (negative) variation in plan dimensions of footings
C. plus (positive) variation in plan dimensions of footings
D. plus (positive) variation in cross-sectional dimensions of columns & beams (thickness of slabs & walls)
E. in any bay, or 20 ft maximum variation of linear building lines (from set position in plan and related position of columns, walls, and partitions)


Answers B and D are correct. A = 1/4 inch, C = 2 inches, E = 1/4 inch
