Specifications formats

Although Kaplan makes passing reference to some standard specifications formats, the marketplace of electronic master systems for writing specifications has evolved since the ALS guides were originally published. A search on AIA.org returns NOTHING on the Professional Systems Division mentioned in Kaplan. In November of 2010, CSI bought BSD, developer of the SpecLink-E product. What are the 2 main for-fee competitor products to SpecLink-E?
A. Masterspec
B. Comspec
C. Spectext
D. Specsystem

AnswerA. Masterspec (ARCOM) and C. Spectext (CSRF).

In addition to the fee-based/subscription specifications products, several free systems exist in varying degrees of completeness. Some of these are SpexPlus, Arcat, and FirstSource. For more discussion of the development of automated spec systems, check out this blog from Conspectus, Inc. and CSI
