Why can shortening the scheduled time of construction decrease the contractor's overhead?

AnswerAlthough direct costs may increase as overtime or additional workers are added, the contractor's overhead is decreased by shortening the overall time necessary to carry certain project overhead costs such as insurance, heat/cooling, project office or security.
