Fire door time ratings

An exterior wall with a 2 hour rating requires a door assembly rating (standard door test NFPA 252) of 1 1/2 hours. If the exterior wall rating is increased to 3 hours, what is the required door assembly rating?
A. 1 1/2, B. 2
C. 2 1/2, D. 3

A. 1 1/2 is correct. Only a partition used as a fire wall or fire barrier rated above 2 hours requires a door assembly rating greater than 1 1/2 (3 hour door req'd). An exterior wall would not separate another occupancy from the door opening.
